Cheerleading is a very popular and fast-growing sport for children. Cheerleading is an activity that uses organized routines made up of elements from dance and gymnastics.
CLYFL cheerleading provides cheer and dance instruction as well as performance opportunities for children ages 4 through 14, whether first-time cheerleaders or seasoned veterans. Our program is structured to progress at each level so that the cheerleaders are prepared for High School tryouts. In addition to cheering, the cheerleaders are taught to develop self-confidence, how to be a productive team member, the basics of football, and most of all, how to have fun!

*Please keep in mind your daughter may be moved up to the next division based on space and teams. We try to never turn anyone away!
CLYFL cheerleading does not have try-outs or cuts. All cheerleaders will be placed on a squad until all squads have reached their maximum number of cheerleaders.
Due to safety reasons we do not move cheerleaders out of their age group. All placement decisions will be made on a case by case basis and we offer no guarantees that any request will be fulfilled.
CLYFL provides each athlete with a uniform, bloomers, and pompoms for the season based on what size the parent registers for. Parents are responsible for registering for the correct size.
Our registration fee does not cover cheer shoes, or additional items requested by the coach (up to $90).
Most teams practice 2-3 times per week for 1-1.5 hours per practice. Girls must try to be at every practice to ensure they do not fall behind when learning routines, etc.
Teams will have games on Saturdays, with the possibility of having a game on a weeknight evening. Cheer squads are expected to be at every game unless otherwise communicated.
Participation is crucial and we cannot overemphasize that. The majority of stunts and dance routines require ALL cheerleaders be included in order to be performed properly. Each girl plays a vital role in the squad′s presentation so it is important to be in attendance at all practices and games.
CLYFL is a non-profit organization run solely by volunteers with their children in our football and cheer programs. We do not compensate our volunteers, including coaches, board members, or team parents. Our volunteers devote a substantial amount of their time and energy to support our youth sports program. Without volunteers, we would not have a program for our children.
For the league to run smoothly, the participation of parents is crucial. So please, donate your time to the league and help us make this a better and stronger organization. We could always use cheerleading coaches for all age groups.
We are currently accepting student coaches (9th-12th grade) and adult coaches. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Brittany Luce, Director of Cheerleading, at cheer@clyfl.org.
NOTE: Parents will be asked to volunteer for 4 hours during the season. It is an easy job and is a lot of fun! More information is coming soon.
