When and where are practices?
Each team's practice schedule is set by the head coach. We have numerous practice fields, all located in Leesburg, VA.
How often do teams practice?
Flag teams generally practice once or twice per week. Tackle football and cheer teams must follow the following guidelines for practice allowance.

What is the league's refund policy should my child choose not to participate?
The league will offer a full refund, minus a small processing fee, for any child who withdraws prior to being assigned a team. After team placement, no refunds will be given unless extraordinary circumstances prevent that child from participating in CLYFL.
When should I hear my child's team placement, practice schedule, etc.?
A, B, and C league football teams are established at the league draft (July 31, 2010). Players in those divisions should expect to hear from their coach soon after. D league football, flag football, and cheer participants should hear from their coach or a league representative the following week.
Can I request for my child to be placed with a certain coach or on the same team as a friend?
There is a field on the registration form that allows you to make such requests. We will try to honor all requests for cheerleading, flag, and D league football. Requests can be made for A, B, and C league football but are not guaranteed. Players in those divisions are assigned to teams through a draft.
Do I need to provide additional paperwork?
All new participants must provide a copy of their birth certificate. Contact football players must also provide a physical or doctor's release. Those documents can be scanned and emailed to our director of registration or mailed to:

Does the league have a form for sports physicals?
CLYFL does not have a specific form that we require for the doctor's release. Any document stating the child is healthy enough to play contact football, dated within the calendar year, and signed by a physician will be fine. Many people just provide a short, hand-written note.
Can I submit a copy of my child's school physical?
No. We must have documentation specifically stating that the child is healthy enough to play football. School physicals do not indicate this.
Does the league offer scholarships for families who have a financial need?
Yes, we offer full or partial scholarships based on need. If you would like to request a scholarship, please contact our Director of Registration, Brian Riley at
as soon as possible. You will need to establish proof of need. Scholarships are not automatically carried over from year to year.
Why does the system ask for my cell phone provider?
Select your cell provider if you wish to receive text message updates from the league. These can include practice/game reminders, field status, or schedule changes. If you do not wish to receive updates on your phone, select "No Text Messages".
Is it possible for my child to participate in a different age division?
We do have a policy that allows for children to play in a different division if the league determines that it will benefit the child. You will initially need to register your child for the league that corresponds to his/her age. For cheer participants, there is a built-in field for requesting alternate placement in the online registration. Football players may apply for advancement or regression by downloading the advancement/regression form from the Documents Page. A decision may not be made for football participants until after player evaluations.
